Rolfing Structural Integration is a hands-on bodywork therapy manipulating the body soft tissue’s to realign and balance its myofascial structure. This is achieved by lengthening and repositioning imbalances in the connective tissue system called fascia. Soft tissue work is combined with bio-mechanical movement education to enhance individual body awareness and reduce poor movement and posture. Skillful mobilization, lengthening, and re-patterning the entire fascial system allows muscles and joints to move more efficiently and encourages the body to maintain an integrated, structurally optimal posture. When a body is aligned and balanced it moves with greater ease, responds with resiliency and requires less energy to function within the gravitational field. This results in less pain and a greater sense of well-being:
*Relief from pain and injuries
*Healthier posture and mind-set
*Enhanced movement and mobility
*Improved breathing and performance
To optimize immediate and lasting results, sessions or series of sessions are expertly personalized to the unique needs of each individual. Matthew Hartman has a distinct reputation for his creative and inventive approach to individualizing each session(s).

ROLFING TEN SESSION SERIES
The “ten series” is Dr. Ida Rolf’s revolutionary approach for systemically unwinding and rebalancing the body: each session builds upon the accomplishments of the previous one until complete integration of the body is achieved. This dynamic and interactive “recipe” is extremely beneficial for chronic pain, poor posture, limited mobility/movement, and performance enhancement. By balancing the bones and soft tissue structures around its vertical axis in three dimensional space, the constant force of gravity flows through the individual as flexibility, coordination and personal potential are enhanced.
INDIVIDUAL ROLFING, STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION THERAPEUTIC BODYWORK SESSIONS
Matthew has extensive experience and training utilizing Rolf Structural Integration techniques and theories in single sessions. These are helpful for acute injuries, sprains/strains, “tweaks”, stress, headaches and recovery. This format is also an ideal way to try a Rolf session or use the session to meet an immediate health need. Matthew has numerous clients he has worked with for 14 plus years who regularly return to address a particular body part, “refresh” their Rolf posture and/or maintain the investment they have made in their health. Many of these clients feel the regular maintenance sessions help to advance the foundational sessions they began with. Specialized training in working with previously “Rolfed” individuals, Post-Ten Series work and Scoliosis are noteworthy to Matthew’s skill set.
WHAT IS A SESSION LIKE?
As a practitioner, Matthew inquires with each client what they wish to accomplish from Rolf work, their health history and how they perceive their body in daily life. With this information Matthew uses his expertise to observe an individual, how they stand, walk and other general movements. Participation in each session is important and typically involves breathing into an area being worked with, making subtle or specific movements as necessary and being aware of how their body reacts to the work. During the session an individual may experience a warm, pleasant sensation from the area being worked with. Some do not encounter any sensation, while others may experience momentary discomfort. Matthew’s application is highly refined from his 15 years bodywork experience. Never is a person expected to “endure” sensation they are not comfortable with. He views the work as a collaborative venture between his skill and the goals of the individual.
TESTIMONIALS
“I was having minimal and temporary success with Massage Therapy and Chiropractic for my neck pain. Matthew Hartman helped me understand that the pain was stemming from a misalignment in my lower back and pelvis which was throwing my head forward of my body. The 10 Session protocol has been amazing for realigning my entire body and relieving my neck pain.”-K.K.
“Before the 10 sessions I experienced a noticeable difference in the range of motion of my shoulders. Matthew was extremely helpful in personalizing the course of treatments based on my condition. After two months of completing these sessions, the mobility in my “stuck” shoulder continues to improve each week. I am amazed!” -L.G.
“Matthew, I am amazed at how I am now able to balance on my left leg with the same quality of strength and intensity as my right. Before the 10 sessions this was a shaky possibility at best. My overall sense of balance and coordination continues to improve and my yoga teacher notices the changes as well.” -T.G.
